RSE Full Titanium Exhaust Mazda RX-8 Late Model
Real Speed Engineering chose a single exit for the RX-8 rather than following the twin-exit trend, on the basis that a single outlet is lighter, keeps the exhaust path straight for better efficiency and gives a more natural resonance, all of which suits the high-revving character of the naturally aspirated 13B-MSP. One 115mm titanium tip replaces the standard twin 90.8mm outlets, fed by 80.5mm titanium pipework in place of the standard 60.5mm, running into a 152mm titanium silencer that takes the place of a standard unit measuring 280 by 750mm. Wall thickness is 1mm throughout and the complete exhaust weighs 5.65kg against the 17.7kg standard unit, a saving of over 12kg from the rear of the car. RSE measured proximity noise at 117 decibels with the exhaust alone fitted, dropping to 106 decibels with a sound reducer and 105 decibels with the Sound Reducer ver.2. It's supplied as a complete kit with the gaskets, bolts and anti-seize compound needed for fitting, so there's no need to source any standard parts before installation.
