Airtec Motorsport PCV Oil Catch Can for Ford Fiesta ST180
Part of Airtec's expanding Ford range, this Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) oil catch can is a preventative upgrade for the Fiesta ST180, aimed at track or fast road use.
Catch cans are an important safeguard for direct injection engines, stopping blow-by gases and oil vapour from the CCV port or PCV valve from reaching the intake and forming carbon build-up over time. The ST180 has both a CCV port and a PCV valve, so Airtec has developed a kit for each and recommends fitting both for full protection. This PCV kit mounts at the front of the engine bay on a laser-cut bracket finished in powder-coated satin black. The can itself has an internal baffle and dipstick, and detaches easily for servicing.
Why do I need a Positive Crankcase Ventilation catch can?
The PCV valve is a one-way valve that, when open, lets blow-by gases and vapour from the crankcase pass back into the inlet manifold — the main cause of carbon build-up on the intake and inlet valves over time, which restricts airflow and costs power and efficiency. Once formed, that build-up is costly to clean off, so a catch can filters out the contaminants before they reach the inlet system in the first place.
