Airtec Motorsport Gearbox Oil Cooler for Honda Civic FL5 Type R
Part of Airtec's expanding Honda range, this gearbox oil cooler — the first of its kind on the market — is built for track or fast road use on the FL5 Civic Type R.
Adding power and torque to the FL5 inevitably adds heat to the car's cooling system. Airtec's kit addresses this from two angles: from the factory, a simple heat exchanger by the gearbox uses engine coolant to cool the gearbox oil, so adding an external oil cooler into that same loop reduces both gearbox and engine running temperature together. The extra oil volume added by the cooler and lines also helps keep temperatures lower for longer.
The cooler mounts to a supplied replacement lower brace bar behind the rad pack, stronger and more rigid than the original Honda item it replaces, and pairs with a laser-cut aluminium air duct panel with extra ventilation slots for passive cooling under the engine, using all the original fixings. It's finished in black powder coat, requires no cutting or trimming, and can be reverted to standard.
