Look closely at the edge of a DBA performance disc and you will see three painted stripes: green, orange and red. They are not decoration. Each one permanently changes colour once the disc gets past a certain temperature. Come in from a track session, glance at the edge of the disc, and you can see exactly how hard your brakes have been working.

Even better, those three colours match DBA’s three performance pad compounds. If the green stripe has changed, the disc is telling you it is time to move up a pad. No guesswork, no data logging, no maths.

That is a good example of how DBA think, and we are pleased to say the full range is now available at both Tegiwa and The Brake Shop.

Who are DBA?

Disc Brakes Australia have been making brakes for over forty years. They supply discs to car manufacturers as well as building their own performance range, and they make everything themselves rather than buying in castings and putting a sticker on the box.

Everything they make is a direct replacement, which means it bolts straight onto your car with no brackets, no spacers and no modifications. You get a proper upgrade while keeping standard fitment.

The discs

DBA split their discs into three levels. Here is what you actually need to know about each.

Street Series: for road cars

This is your quality replacement disc for a daily driven car. It is not a cheap disc, it is a properly made one, with better cooling than a standard item thanks to DBA’s “Kangaroo Paw” vent design (more on that below) and a precision machined face that helps avoid brake judder later on.

Best for: daily drivers, road cars, SUVs and vans.

You can have them plain or slotted, if you want them to look good through the spokes. There is also an EnShield option, which is coated all over so the discs stay looking clean instead of going rusty after the first sign of rain.

4000 Series: for fast road and track days

This is the one most of our customers will want. Same direct fitment, but now with high carbon iron, a heat treatment process that makes the disc far more resistant to cracking, and the colour changing temperature stripes.

Best for: fast road cars, spirited driving and regular track days.

The version to go for is the T3 slotted. The slots give the pad something to bite into and give brake dust and gases somewhere to escape, so the brakes feel the same on lap six as they did on lap one. The slot pattern is symmetrical, so there is no left and right disc to get mixed up when you are fitting them.

There is also an XD version if you prefer a cross drilled look, and a plain HD version.

One honest bit of advice: if your car does regular track days, choose the slotted T3 rather than a drilled disc. Drilled discs look great and are fine on the road, but DBA themselves do not recommend them for sustained track use. Slots are the tougher option once you are putting real heat through them.

5000 Series: the top of the range

These are two-piece discs. The iron braking ring is bolted to a lightweight aluminium centre rather than being cast as one solid lump, and the difference is significant.

You save around 1.5kg per front disc depending on the car. That weight is unsprung and spinning, which is the best possible place to lose it. Your suspension works better and the steering feels lighter.

They also handle heat better, because the iron ring is free to expand as it gets hot instead of being locked to the centre, and the aluminium centre keeps heat away from your wheel bearings.

The clever part is the cost over time. When the braking rings wear out you replace just the rings and keep the aluminium centres. Over two or three sets, that adds up.

Best for: serious track cars, club racing and rally.

What is “Kangaroo Paw”?

Every disc has vents running through the middle to let cooling air pass through. Most manufacturers use straight fins. DBA instead use 144 small pillars shaped like diamonds and teardrops.

Two things happen. There is roughly 30 percent more surface area for air to cool, and the disc runs about 20 percent cooler than a straight fin design. It also makes the disc physically stronger.

Cooler brakes means less fade, a better pedal, and discs and pads that last longer.

The pads

Four options, and the three performance compounds are colour coded to match the stripes on the disc.

Street Series: Your standard replacement pad. Quiet, very low dust, made for normal driving. The dust it does produce is a light colour, so your wheels stay looking cleaner.

Street Performance (green): The best all round choice for a fast road car. Noticeably better bite than a standard pad, but still quiet, still low dust, and still happy from cold on the first roundabout of the morning. Works well up to around 438 degrees C. This is what we would recommend for most road going Hondas.

Xtreme Performance (orange): The track day pad. Stronger bite, and crucially it keeps that bite as the temperature climbs, all the way to around 550 degrees C. It is also the right choice if you tow heavy loads.

Be aware it makes more dust and wears faster than the green pad. That is simply the price of more grip. Also worth knowing: more bite is not always better. On a lighter car, a very aggressive pad on the rear can make the car harder to control in the wet. DBA often recommend running the orange pad on the front and the green on the rear, which gives you the stopping power where it matters without upsetting the balance.

Race Performance (red): A full race pad for circuit and sprint use, designed to work above 350 degrees C and stay consistent beyond 630 degrees C. It is not suitable for road driving and DBA are clear about that. It is also only available for selected cars, so enter your vehicle reg to see if these are available.

How you use your car

Discs

Pads

Daily driver

Street Series

Street Series or Street Performance

Fast road, occasional blast

4000 Series T3

Street Performance (green)

Fast road plus regular track days

4000 Series T3

Xtreme Performance (orange)

Dedicated track or race car

5000 Series T3

Xtreme or Race Performance

Racing to a standard-appearance rule

4000 Series HD

Xtreme Performance (orange)

Still not sure? Tell us the car, roughly what power it makes, and how often it sees a circuit. We will point you at the right setup rather than the most expensive one.

Bed them in properly

New discs and pads need bedding in. That means a series of firm stops from moderate speed, getting progressively harder, without coming to a complete stop at the end of each one. This lays an even layer of pad material onto the disc face.

The one thing to avoid is sitting with your foot on the brake at a standstill when everything is hot. That leaves a patch of pad material on the disc and gives you a pulsing pedal that most people then wrongly blame on a warped disc. DBA include a bed-in card in the box, so follow it.

Why buy your DBA brakes from us

We have been supplying performance parts to enthusiasts for twenty years, and we buy and drive this stuff ourselves. When you ring up with a question about which pad suits your car, you are talking to someone who has fitted them.

Episode 1 of our 20 Years of Tegiwa series is live. We go back to the very beginning — how the business started, and where the name Tegiwa actually came from.

Twenty years is a long time to sell car parts.

Long enough that some of the people who ordered from us in 2006 now have kids old enough to be building their own cars. Long enough to go from a couple of lads importing cars and breaking Hondas, to a 28,000 sq. ft facility in Stoke-on-Trent, a 28-strong team, and official UK and European distribution for Mugen.

We thought 2026 was a reasonable excuse to sit down and tell the story properly.

Introducing the series

20 Years of Tegiwa is a new series on our YouTube channel covering how the business came to be, what went right, what went wrong, and everything in between. No script, no polish, just the people who were actually there, talking about how it happened.

Episode 1 goes right back to the start. Before the warehouse, before the distribution deals, before any of it was a business at all. It covers what our Directors Johnny & Luke were doing before Tegiwa existed, how importing Hondas from Japan went from a hobby to something that paid the bills, and the decisions made early on that we’re still living with two decades later.

And yes, we finally answer the name question

It’s the thing we get asked more than almost anything else: what does Tegiwa actually mean, and where did it come from?

Twenty years of fielding that one at shows, in the comments and over the phone. Episode 1 answers it — properly, and with the full story behind it.

Watch episode 1

The full episode is live now on the Tegiwa YouTube channel.

Ferodo is one of the most respected names in braking, and for good reason. The brand pioneered modern friction materials and has been supplying everyone from road car manufacturers to top-level motorsport teams ever since. But with several compounds in the range, choosing the right Ferodo pad for your car, and how you use it, can be confusing.

In this guide, we’ll break down the six Ferodo compounds available at The Brake Shop: DS Performance, DS2500, DS3000, DSUNO, DS1.11 and DS3.12. By the end, you’ll know exactly which pad belongs in your brake calipers.

Ferodo DS Performance: The Road Upgrade

Best for: Fast road driving

The DS Performance is Ferodo’s entry point into the performance range, designed as a direct upgrade over standard OE pads. It offers stronger bite, improved fade resistance and a firmer pedal feel, while retaining the refinement you need for daily driving, low noise, low dust and dependable performance from cold. This range is especially recommended for road use as most of the range is ECE R90 compliant, which means it’s within ±15% of the Original Manufacturers performance.

If your car never sees a circuit but you want better stopping power on the road, this is the pad to choose. It’s also a great match for hot hatches and fast estates that carry a bit of weight.

Ferodo DS2500: The Legendary All-Rounder

Best for: Spirited driving, occasional track days, sprints and hillclimbs

If you’ve spent any time in the performance car world, you’ll have heard of the DS2500. It’s arguably the most popular dual-purpose pad ever made, and it’s often the benchmark that other spirited driving/track compounds are measured against.

The reason for its reputation is simple: it has great manners when you’re driving normally and like a race pad when you’re pushing on. It works well from cold, keeps noise and dust to a minimum, and delivers a consistent friction level of around 0.42 across a working range of 0 to 500 degrees C. That consistency translates to predictable braking and excellent pedal modulation.

Low compressibility also means a firm, confidence-inspiring pedal, while remaining kind to both discs and pads. For the vast majority of drivers who do a handful of track days a year, the DS2500 is very hard to beat.

One thing to note: on very heavy, powerful cars running sticky track rubber, the DS2500 can be worked towards the top of its temperature range and pad wear will increase. If that sounds like your setup, it’s time to step up to a dedicated race compound.

Ferodo DS3000: The Proven Classic

Best for: Rally, hillclimb, touring car and clubman racing

Setting the braking standard since its launch in 1998, the DS3000 is one of the most successful competition compounds of all time, with countless wins and podiums across touring car, rally and GT championships worldwide. It remains a firm favourite in rallying and grassroots motorsport to this day.

It’s a heavy-duty all-round race material with a high average friction coefficient of 0.48 across a working range of 200 to 650 degrees C, offering strong initial bite with excellent feel and release. One of its standout traits is a remarkably short bedding-in time, up to 50 percent faster than comparable materials, which makes it ideal when pads need swapping between events, and its flat friction curve keeps braking predictable in all conditions. It’s also notably easy on discs, with the trade-off being higher pad wear than the newer endurance compounds.

As the predecessor to the DS1.11, it’s since been joined by more modern materials in the range, but the DS3000’s track record, rally pedigree and forgiving character mean it’s still an excellent choice for competition use.

Ferodo DSUNO: The Heavy-Duty All-Rounder

Best for: Touring car, GT, single seater and rally

The DSUNO is Ferodo’s heavy-duty semi-endurance compound, race proven across touring cars, GT machinery, single seaters and rallying. It delivers a high average friction coefficient of 0.48 across a working range of 200 to 750 degrees C, more outright bite than the DS1.11 once up to track temperature, yet its defining characteristic is control. The torque output is exceptionally progressive and easy to modulate throughout the braking event, which significantly reduces the risk of wheel lock compared with other pads offering similar peak friction.

Despite that aggression, the DSUNO is remarkably kind to discs and offers long pad life for a compound this potent, making it a genuine do-it-all motorsport pad. Think of it as the option for drivers who like the DS1.11’s dependability but want a stronger overall bite, accepting slightly shorter pad life in exchange.

Like any full race compound, it needs temperature to work at its best and isn’t suited to road use.

<button

Ferodo DS1.11: The Endurance Racer

Best for: Endurance racing and serious track use

The DS1.11 is a proper motorsport compound designed for long stints at sustained high temperatures. Fade resistance is outstanding, it’s a pad that simply refuses to give up, no matter how hard it’s driven, and it’s remarkably gentle on discs at track temperatures once a proper transfer layer has been established, which is exactly what you want over a long race distance.

Friction sits at a moderate level between the DS2500 and DS3.12, and many drivers actually prefer this characteristic. The slightly lower bite makes the pad easier to modulate on the limit and less likely to trigger ABS intervention, giving fine control deep into a braking zone.

The trade-off is road manners. The DS1.11 can be noisy when cold and cold bite is limited, so while some racers drive to and from the circuit on them, they’re not a pad we’d recommend for road use.

Ferodo DS3.12: The Modern Benchmark

Best for: Sprint racing, time attack and maximum performance

The newest compound in the DS line, the DS3.12 was developed for the current generation of performance cars. Heavier, more powerful and running more grip than ever before. It’s the highest-friction pad in the Ferodo range, delivering serious bite with less pedal effort, and it’s renowned for having one of the flattest torque curves of any race pad on the market.

In practice, that means the pedal feels the same on lap one as it does on lap twenty, corner after corner, with no measurable fade at any temperature your brakes are realistically going to see. Wear rates are excellent for such an aggressive compound too, and it’s unusually quiet for a race pad when cold.

Cold bite is low to moderate, so allow extra distance on the first couple of stops of the day, and expect faster disc wear if used extensively at low temperatures. But for outright performance and consistency on circuit, the DS3.12 is the gold standard.

Road only? Go DS Performance.

Occasional track days? The DS2500 is the default answer for a reason.

Rallying or clubman motorsport? The DS3000 is the proven choice with decades of victories, strong bite and quick bedding-in.

Racing in touring cars, GT or rally? The DSUNO combines high bite with superb control, long life and disc-friendly manners.

Race car doing long stints? DS1.11 for its endurance pedigree, disc-friendly nature and controllable bite.

We’re excited to announce the launch of our brand-new specialist website, TheBrakeShop.co.uk, a dedicated online store built for one thing and one thing only. Braking.

Whether you’re chasing lap times on track, spirited driving on the road, or simply want to restore your car’s stopping power to its best, The Brake Shop has you covered. We’ve brought together the largest range of OE and performance brake pads, discs, big brake kits and consumables from an array of industry-leading brands, all under one roof.

Why a Dedicated Brake Website?

Brakes are one of the most important upgrades you can make to any car, but finding the right parts can be a minefield. Pad compounds, disc sizes, fitments, fluid boiling points, there’s a lot to get right. The Brake Shop strips away the confusion with a site designed from the ground up around braking, making it quicker and easier than ever to find exactly what your car needs.

Find Parts for Your Vehicle in Seconds

At the heart of the new site is our vehicle lookup tool. Simply enter your reg or select your make, year, model and engine, and you’ll be shown braking products that fit your car. No more cross-checking part numbers or trawling through endless listings.

If you’ve been following UK Time Attack, you already know the car. Now, it’s time to get an exclusive look at everything that makes Tsuki so fast.

We’ve just dropped a full feature video on our legendary Turbo K-Swap Honda NSX. Pushing out a massive 764bhp, this track weapon has been absolutely dominating the circuit, and currently holds every single Time Attack Pro Class record in the UK!

In this latest video, we take you on a comprehensive walk around of the car. We are stripping back the secrets and explaining exactly what goes into a record-smashing build. From the aerodynamics and suspension setup to the intricacies of the turbocharged K-series engine, we break down why this NSX is so incredibly fast.

Watch the full feature here:

Build Your Own Track Weapon

You don’t need a factory-backed race team to get your hands on top-tier motorsport gear. The best part about this build is that nearly all the performance parts you see on the NSX are available right off the shelf from us.

Whether you are looking to upgrade your aero, dial in your suspension, or build a bulletproof engine, you can find the exact components we trust on the track.

If you’ve been following us for a while, you’ll know we’re no strangers to the Honda S2000 as a race car platform. Back in February we published a full feature on Tegiwa’s first S2000 Cup build, covering everything from the controlled parts package to the Yokohama Advan-inspired livery. We’re not going to retread that ground here, if you want the detail, head over and read it.

What we are here to tell you is that we’ve just finished building another one.

The car is built to the same S2000 Cup specification as before, same controlled parts list, same philosophy of keeping the competition down to driver skill rather than budget. As the team putting these cars together and supplying the parts that go into them, we know this platform inside out.

Mugen Official UK & European Distributor

One thing that sets this build apart is the livery. We chose to celebrate our position as the Official UK & European Distributor for Mugen, and we think it’s a fitting canvas for it. Mugen has been at the heart of Honda motorsport for decades, producing some of the most respected performance parts in the business, from exhaust systems and suspension components to full aero kits and engine internals. It’s a name that belongs on a race car, and we’re proud to carry it.

As the Official UK & European Distributor, we supply the full Mugen range here at Tegiwa. Whether you’re building a road car, a track weapon or a full race car, you can browse the complete Mugen catalogue at Tegiwa.com.

So why build another car? Because we want to use it to support the next generation of Racing Hondas Championship drivers, and that starts with the Tegiwa Scholarship.

The Tegiwa Scholarship

The Tegiwa Scholarship is our way of putting a funded drive within reach of drivers who wouldn’t necessarily have a route onto the grid. One successful candidate walks away with an arrive-and-drive package worth over £40,000 for the full 2027 Racing Hondas Championship season, this comprises of the use of a race car, entry fees, tyres, fuel, race suit and helmet.

There’s no experience requirement. The scholarship is open to track day drivers, sim racers, grassroots competitors and people who have never raced at all. What we’re looking for is potential, not a CV.

Assessment days take place at Blyton Park on 13th and 14th October 2026, with the top twelve candidates progressing to the Scholarship Final on 15th October. The assessment covers on-track driving with coaching from experienced motorsport professionals, including current BTCC driver Josh Cook, as well as media, fitness and data modules. Every single participant receives professional driver feedback and a Tegiwa Sponsorship Account regardless of the outcome, so there’s something in it for everyone who enters.

Entry is just £695, or we offer a range of payment plans on our website too. Places are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you’ve ever thought about going racing and wondered where to start, this is the most straightforward answer we can give you. Enter the Tegiwa Scholarship here.

What is the Honda Super-ONE?

The Honda Super-ONE is an electric kei car built on the N-One e: platform (the N-One e: is its name in Japan). The styling leans hard into Honda’s hot hatch past, there’s more than a little City Turbo II in the boxy arches and stance, but underneath it’s a thoroughly modern EV.

Power comes from a single electric motor producing 63bhp, rising to 94bhp (70kW / 95PS) in Boost Mode. It’s no monster on paper, but at roughly 1,090kg it’s light, and Honda has given it a more aggressive chassis than the standard N-One e:, with lowered suspension and wider tracks. There’s also Active Sound Control, which pipes a simulated engine note and gearshifts through the speakers, a gimmick to some, good fun to others.

The Mugen Super-ONE body kit and parts

The Mugen Super-ONE body kit is about styling, aero and handling rather than outright power; the electric powertrain is left standard. What you get instead is a properly worked-over kei car:

Front Wide Arches: fibreglass over-fenders with vents above the wheel wells, around 20% lighter than the steel originals and widening the body noticeably. There’s a matching rear set, plus side garnishes to tie the profile together.

Front Splitter & Rear Diffuser: a full aero package, finished off by a large dry carbon tailgate spoiler developed through airflow analysis and even though it’s bigger than the OE spoiler, it’s actually 10% lighter.

It is officially the end of an era for Tsuki, our Honda NSX. After five years running Bourne HPP engines and a Life Racing ECU, Terry has made the decision to move on to pastures new. We want to thank him for his support over the years, but as one door closes, another opens.

This transition presented us with a major opportunity to completely rethink Tsuki’s electronic systems. The main change? Saying goodbye to Life Racing and making the jump to Haltech.

Here is a deep dive into the overhaul that is going to make Tsuki an absolute weapon this season.

The Brain Transplant: Going Full Haltech

After getting some excellent advice from the team at Haltech, we spec’d out exactly what we needed to keep Tsuki running at the absolute limit. We decided to go all-in:

Haltech Nexus R5 ECU: This is Haltech’s top-of-the-range Haltech ECU, and crucially, it features a built-in PDM. This unit is the new brain of the operation, currently managing a highly capable 683 bhp. We are currently only running at 1.5bar boost as well, so there’s plenty left to go when we want to crank things up.

Haltech PDM16: Because Tsuki has so much going on mechanically and electronically, the Nexus R5’s built-in PDM wasn’t quite enough. We added the 16-channel PDM to handle the extra load.

Haltech TCA8: An 8-channel thermocouple amplifier so we can keep absolute, precise control over our exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs).

Taking Control with Haltech NSP

One of the biggest revelations of this swap has been the Haltech NSP (Nexus Software Programmer) software. The user interface is so intuitive that, as soon as we had the pinouts mapped, we were able to set a massive portion of the system up entirely on our own.

Data is Everything: Supported by AIM Technologies

We are incredibly proud to announce that we have official support from the guys at AIM Technologies this year!

If you know motorsport, you know AIM is the gold standard for track data. Their sensors and data systems already feature heavily on Tsuki, but having their direct backing takes things to a whole new level. Their technical knowledge is absolutely out of this world, and their insight ensures we are extracting every last drop of useful data to dial in our new setup.

Fueling the Fire: 8 Injectors

If you followed us last year, you might remember that fueling eventually became our limiting factor. We were maxing out our setup. To ensure we never run into a fuel starvation bottleneck again, we have upgraded to an 8-injector setup. Tsuki now has all the fuel flow required to safely support high boost levels without breaking a sweat.

Breathing Better: Kelford Cams & VTEC Returns

More fuel needs more air. We’ve installed a set of Kelford Stage 1 Turbo Cams, and they have completely transformed the car’s power delivery.

Keeping it Cool: PWR Radiator

All of this newly unlocked power generates a massive amount of heat, especially on track. To combat this, we’ve upgraded our setup with a PWR radiator, and the cooling efficiency speaks for itself when you look at the AIM data from a lap around Blyton.

Take a look at the data comparison below. The green line represents our 2025 data, where you can clearly see the Intake Air Temperature was being artificially controlled by water-methanol injection—hence the visible plateaus on the graph. Without that water-meth injection, those intake temperatures would have just kept climbing.

The red line is our fresh 2026 data, running purely on the new system with no water-meth injection. It clearly shows just how incredibly effective the PWR setup is at managing and stabilising temperatures under heavy track load all on its own, plus we get the benefit of weight reduction now we’ve removed the water meth tank and lines.

The Cockpit: Zestek CAN Wheel & Carbon Tidy-Up

We didn’t just spend time upgrading the engine, the driver’s office got a major upgrade, too.

We’ve installed a brand new Zestek CAN hub and got a new steering wheel too. This isn’t just for aesthetics, it communicates directly with our Haltech setup, allowing the driver to control the PDM outputs right from the steering wheel. Integrating this was an absolute breeze thanks to the Zestek Racing Suite.

<button

To finish off the winter refresh, we added more carbon fibre detailing to the interior and spent time properly tidying up the cabin, giving the driver a clean, focused, and distraction-free environment.

Tsuki is leaner, smarter, and significantly more powerful than she was at the end of last season. We can’t wait to show you what this new Haltech-powered setup can do on the track!

Over the past couple of years we’ve quietly become the unofficial premier supplier of Honda Acty kei trucks here in the UK, having brought more than 20 of these brilliant little machines in from Japan. Every one has its own story, but Luke’s recent build might just be our favourite yet.

This is the story of a 2010 HA9 Acty Attack that rolled out of a shipping container and then got the Tegiwa transformation as a truck that’s ready to take on some green lanes.

Why an Acty Attack?

For the uninitiated, the “Attack” badge isn’t just marketing fluff. It signifies the proper off-road spec of the Acty: factory diff locks and a high/low transfer case sat on top of the already-capable 4WD platform. In Japan these were aimed at farmers, foresters and anyone working out in the sticks who needed a tiny truck that could actually go places.

In other words, it’s the perfect base for an overlander build.

This particular truck is also the newest Acty we’ve ever imported, a 2010 model year, which made it an even more exciting to get our hands on.

Step One: From Container to MOT

The moment we unloaded Luke’s Acty from the back of the container, it was straight to the MOT station. It might not be the glamorous part of the process, but the MOT certificate is the first proper hurdle. Without it, you can’t get the vehicle registered for UK roads, so it’s always our first port of call once a truck lands.

Thankfully, this little Attack passed with a clean bill of health and was cleared to move on to the next stage of the build.

Into the Body Shop

It’s worth remembering that these kei trucks were built to be used. Whether navigating tight Japanese city streets or earning their keep out in the fields, they’re work horses first and foremost. They’re not always the tidiest examples when they arrive on our shores. Battle scars are part of the charm, but for this build we wanted a clean canvas.

Luke had his heart set on Keswick Green, a nod to the classic Land Rover 90 of yesteryear. After a couple of weeks at the body shop, the Acty came back looking fresh. The dings and scrapes had been pulled out, the paint was crisp, and the bed had been given a proper Raptor liner finish. It’s incredible how much character that colour adds!

Back to Tegiwa for the Overlander Build

With paint done, it was time to bring the Acty home to Tegiwa HQ for the fun part. This is something we want to shout about: we don’t just import these trucks, we can carry out the modifications and supply the parts too, all before you drive it away. A genuine one-stop kei truck shop.

Here’s what went into the build:

Lift Kit

First up, a lift kit for some extra ground clearance. Essential for any truck that’s actually going to see the rough stuff, and it sets the visual tone immediately.

Front Bull Bar

A proper bull bar up front, adding a bit of utilitarian aggression and offering some protection for the front end when you’re brushing past hedgerows on a green lane.

Upgraded Exhaust

Worth an honest aside here. A lot of the Actys that arrive to us have a noticeable rattle coming from the back box, and unfortunately Honda discontinued the original part a long time ago, so there’s not much we can do to fix it on the factory system. The good news is that fitting an upgraded exhaust solves the issue completely, and gives the truck a much better soundtrack.

Roof Rack & LED Light Bar

A roof rack opens up a world of practicality for an overlander, whether that’s for jerry cans or recovery gear. Pair it with an LED light bar for the kind of night-time visibility these trucks have never seen from the factory, and you’ve got a setup that’s ready for proper exploration.

Wheels and Tyres

This is where things got interesting. We’d originally specced a set of 14X4.5 ET40 Weds Adventure Mud Vance X Type S wheels wrapped in Yokohama Geolandar X-AT tyres, a cracking combination on paper. Unfortunately, the tyre size we’d chosen simply wouldn’t fit inside the arches once everything was bolted up. Rather than compromise on the look or the lift, we switched to a set of MRF rally tyres, which fitted perfectly with just enough clearance on that front arch.

A taupe cover for the rear bed keeps the load area protected and adds a slightly retro feel that complements the Land Rover Keswick Green beautifully. To finish things off, the truck got a set of custom Tegiwacty decals, a little nod to its new home.

The First Drive

With every part installed (literally overnight – the Tegiwa team don’t hang about), the truck was finally ready to roll. We took it out to tackle some grass banks as a warm-up before pointing it at the green lanes proper, and it handled them exactly as you’d hope a kei-spec 4×4 with diff locks and low range would. That is to say, brilliantly.

Watching it climb its first proper incline, you realise just how much character these trucks have. They look right doing this kind of thing.

The Acty Life

Builds like Luke’s are exactly why we do what we do. We’re enthusiasts before we’re anything else, and the Honda Acty has well and truly got its hooks into us over the last few years. We love sourcing them, importing them, registering them, modifying them, and watching them roll out of our doors as something genuinely personal to their new owners.

The Pinnacle of Honda Performance

When it comes to aftermarket upgrades for Honda, Mugen stands alone at the absolute summit. Founded in 1973 by Hirotoshi Honda (the son of Honda founder Soichiro Honda), Mugen has motorsport DNA woven into its very fabric.
