It also offers many different corners and scenarios too. This gave us plenty of quality track time to truly feel the difference between the tires. We tested the ever-popular 225\/45\/17 size, a common choice for many performance hatches.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"7:1-7:296\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tegiwaimports.com\/blog\/?cat=416\"><strong>FN2<\/strong><\/a> that we&#8217;ll be using to test these tyres weighs approximately 1,300kg with the driver and has 230 horsepower. We started both tyres on 25 PSI front and 27 PSI rear then we bled them down a few times to maintain the ideal 31 PSI hot.<\/p>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"21:1-21:262\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tegiwaimports.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/034A8647-e1720194809454.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7716\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tegiwaimports.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/034A8647-e1720194797569-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"21:1-21:262\">We utilised a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tegiwa.com\/products\/dragy-gps-performance-monitoring-box\"><strong>Dragy GPS monitoring device<\/strong><\/a> to track lap times. This nifty bit of kit is a game changer as you use your phone to capture footage and it automatically overlays the data on your screen, showing green if you&#8217;re setting a faster lap time or red if you&#8217;re not.<\/p>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"21:1-21:262\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tegiwaimports.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/034A8664-e1720194896922.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7717\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tegiwaimports.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/034A8664-e1720194883985-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"markdown markdown-main-panel\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<h5 data-sourcepos=\"5:1-5:46\"><strong>Rapid Warmup vs. Confidence-Inspiring Grip<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"7:1-7:254\">New vs new, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tegiwa.com\/products\/nankang-ar-1-semi-slick-road-track-tyre?variant=47348267712808\"><strong>AR-1<\/strong><\/a> shines straight out of the box with its quick grip level increase. You can be pushing hard towards the end of your out lap, making it ideal for sessions with limited track time or hill climb events. However, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tegiwa.com\/products\/nankang-cr-s-semi-slick-track-tyres-200tw?variant=47460657266984\"><strong>CR-S<\/strong><\/a> took over 2 laps to switch on. This wasn&#8217;t the case after this initial new skin had been heat cycled.<\/p>\n<h5 data-sourcepos=\"9:1-9:223\">Balance<\/h5>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tegiwa.com\/products\/nankang-ar-1-semi-slick-road-track-tyre?variant=47348267712808\"><strong>AR-1<\/strong><\/a> had an overall lack of grip compared to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tegiwa.com\/products\/nankang-cr-s-semi-slick-track-tyres-200tw?variant=47460657266984\"><strong>CR-S<\/strong><\/a>, this was evident not only in lap times but more so in the way the car drove. This was most obvious at Turn 3, &#8220;Lancaster\u201d, where the circuit is off-camber and Luke just couldn&#8217;t get the power down. Through the very fast Turn 7, \u201cPort Froid\u201d, Luke was having to lift on the final left otherwise the car would understeer off the track at over 100mph. With the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tegiwa.com\/products\/nankang-cr-s-semi-slick-track-tyres-200tw?variant=47460657266984\"><strong>CR-S<\/strong><\/a>, Luke was able to attack this with full throttle.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tegiwaimports.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/034A8731-e1720194956643.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7718\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tegiwaimports.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/034A8731-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h5 data-sourcepos=\"11:1-11:25\"><strong>Lap Times<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"13:1-13:277\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tegiwa.com\/products\/nankang-ar-1-semi-slick-road-track-tyre?variant=47348267712808\"><strong>AR-1<\/strong><\/a> clocked a best lap of 1.13:11 seconds, which is a respectable time.
