<p>Despite a smaller grid than previous races, the Tegiwa Civic Cup provided a couple of cracking races as the series visited the Silverstone International Circuit for the first time as the series ran out of the famous Silverstone ‘Wing’ complex.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_06.jpg" alt="silverstone_06" width="960" height="606" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-481" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_06.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_06-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_06-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_06-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p>Andrew Gaugler set the quickest time in qualifying with a 1:19.31 which meant he would start the first race from pole position. Gaugler was 0.34 seconds faster than Luke Sedzikowski who was second quickest. Mark Higginson was a huge improver and would start third ahead of Chris Coomer. Rich Hockley was only the fifth fastest driver in the session and set exactly the same time as Nathan Burrell!</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_03.jpg" alt="silverstone_03" width="960" height="606" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-484" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_03.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_03-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_03-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_03-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p>Sedzikowski took the early advantage in the opening race of the weekend as Gaugler fell to third as Coomer also moved ahead of him. Gaugler continued to go backwards when both Higginson and Bernard Galea passed the #14 car. A six car battle then began for the lead of the race with Hockley at the rear of it. The next swap would be when Higginson took second away from Coomer.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_02.jpg" alt="silverstone_02" width="960" height="606" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-485" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_02.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_02-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_02-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_02-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p>Higginson and Sedzikowski then started to trade positions for the lead at mid-distance with the latter continuing to head the way. With the top six squabbling, it allowed Nick Chatburn in seventh to join the train. Hockley slowly started to move his way through the field and was third by the end of lap nine.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_07.jpg" alt="silverstone_07" width="960" height="606" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-480" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_07.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_07-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_07-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_07-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p>When the final lap started, any of the leading seven could complete it at the front. Higginson attempted to take the lead at Stowe but Hockley squeezed his way ahead of both Higginson and Sedzikowski gifting him the victory. Sedzikowski came home second after leading much of the race and Higginson got third. Gaugler moved ahead of Coomer for fourth with Galea and Chatburn completing the top seven in a cracking race.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_05.jpg" alt="silverstone_05" width="960" height="606" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-482" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_05.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_05-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_05-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_05-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p>The second race saw the top eight reversed from race one allowing Andrew Hough to start from pole. A crazy first lap saw Coomer come through first ahead of Sedzikowski, who came from the fourth row of the grid! Michael Hamlett made an impressive start but got caught up in an incident with Chatburn. </p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_04.jpg" alt="silverstone_04" width="960" height="606" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-483" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_04.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_04-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_04-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_04-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_01.jpg" alt="silverstone_01" width="960" height="606" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-486" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_01.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_01-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_01-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_01-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p>When the race settled down Coomer led the way with Hockley chasing him down. Hockley got the better of Coomer on the eighth lap and held on to take the victory. Coomer lost out on the final lap as Gaugler, Sedzikowski and Galea got ahead of him. Higginson rounded off the top six and Chatburn recovered to seventh after falling to last.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_08.jpg" alt="silverstone_08" width="960" height="606" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-479" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_08.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_08-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_08-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/silverstone_08-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p>The Civic Cup will be back in action at Cadwell Park on the 14th of September for another couple of entertaining races on the mini-Nurburgring. In the meantime, you can catch the races from Silverstone on Motors TV on the 4th of September.</p>

On completion of our Civic Cup CRX, finding a front lip and rear wing proved difficult. Ordinary parts for these cars are now harder to get hold of than ever, let alone finding parts such as genuine Mugen wings and such. To this end, we approached FiberWorx, a small family run business specialising in GRP (fibreglass) and carbon fibre vehicle parts. If anyone was going to be able to hand make one off parts for the race car it was these guys. After talking through the style of parts we required (Mugen wing) the turnaround was efficient and before we knew it, Project CRX finally had the missing pieces to the puzzle.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-464" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/2.jpg" alt="2" width="960" height="606" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/2.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/2-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/2-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/2-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p>As you can see in the photos, the wing and lip are great additions to the project both visually and aerodynamically. Contact FiberWorx via <a href="mailto:shop@fiberworxonline.com?Subject=Query via Tegiwa Imports Blog Article">shop@fiberworxonline.com</a> and visit their online store at <a href="http://www.fiberworxonline.com" target="_blank">www.fiberworxonline.com</a> to check out what they have to offer. Turnaround is 2-3 weeks so if you are looking to make some additions to your car for a show, track day or other event, plan ahead!</p>

<p>Keeping the little pocket rocket’s handling in check are Yellow Speed Racing ‘Dynamic Pro Sport’ Coilovers. TEGIWA have recently been appointed sole European distributor for YSR as YELLOW SPEED RACING EUROPE. This entry level set of Coilovers are 33-way adjustable and have performed very well so far in this season of Tegiwa Civic Cup. We&#8217;ve had multiple podium finishes with our CRX and also with the Yellow Speed Racing Europe sponsored EP3 Civic Cup car driven by Andy Guagler which runs the &#8216;Club Performance&#8217; Coilovers. Both cars were on the podium last weekend at Silverstone. Congratulations to both Luke Sedzikowski &amp; Andy Gaugler.</p>

<p>Last weekend the latest round of the Tegiwa Civic Cup took place at Rockingham &#8211; Europe&#8217;s fastest racing circuit. The view for spectators here is epic, you can see every corner of the circuit no matter which grandstand you are in. The weather forecast gave out rain for the qualifying and race day (Saturday), but luckily the rain was kept at bay and overall the day was bright and dry. This was a confidence booster for the Civic Cup drivers as it meant they could warm up the Toyo R888 tyres and have faith in their remarkable gripping capabilities, allowing the drivers to keep their right foot planted and reaching up to speeds of 120mph on the Nascar inspired long sweeping left hander. Their are a number of different circuit layouts for various events, this particular event utilised the Longest layout, the International Long Circuit measuring in at 2.56 Miles. Area Motorsport made an appearance at the event in their immaculate Laguna Blue Honda Civic Type R EP3.</p>
<p>Results from Qualifying:</p>
<p>#1 &#8211; Luke Sedzikowski (Civic Type R EP3)<br />

<p>Race 1 started clean, with all drivers off to a flying start off the pit straight and into Turn 1. Sedzikowski (director of Tegiwa &amp; sponsor of Civic Cup), Hockley and Coles held their positions with Nick Chatburn following closely behind. Luke Sedzikowski had a &#8216;moment&#8217; into Chapman Curve holding what appeared to be a four wheel drift, allowing Hockley to pass on the inside. Throughout Race 1 there was some good bumper to bumper action, unfortunately Chatburn dropped back due to a clutch failure, Hockley retained his position in first place until the penultimate lap in which Sedzikowski battled past. Luke kept his foot planted firmly to the floor and brought home another victory for Tegiwa, Skunk2 Europe &amp; RPC (Racing Performance Clutches).</p>

<p>It was great to see multiple generations of the Honda Civic on the podium. A real eye opener for those underestimating some of the older cars such as the EG6. Although the EG and EK Civic are running the B16 1.6 engine unlike the Later EP3 models running K20 2.0 engines, power to weight ratio here plays a huge part in overall track performance, not to mention greater braking capabilities over that of the EP3 allowing the drivers to brake later.</p>
<p>Race 2 did not disappoint, again providing some great action. With Chatburn and his Civic EK Coupe out of the race due to the clutch failure in Race 1, the grid count was down from 13 to 12. Luke Sedzikowski held 1st place throughout the place with Richard Hockley close behind in 2nd place and Martin Coles in 3rd Place. Craig Shore, also driving a Civic Type R EP3 really pushed hard on the final few laps of the race seeing him jump from 8th place to 5th and holding that position through to the chequered flag.</p>
