On completion of our Civic Cup CRX, finding a front lip and rear wing proved difficult. Ordinary parts for these cars are now harder to get hold of than ever, let alone finding parts such as genuine Mugen wings and such. To this end, we approached FiberWorx, a small family run business specialising in GRP (fibreglass) and carbon fibre vehicle parts. If anyone was going to be able to hand make one off parts for the race car it was these guys. After talking through the style of parts we required (Mugen wing) the turnaround was efficient and before we knew it, Project CRX finally had the missing pieces to the puzzle.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-464" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/2.jpg" alt="2" width="960" height="606" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/2.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/2-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/2-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/2-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p>As you can see in the photos, the wing and lip are great additions to the project both visually and aerodynamically. Contact FiberWorx via <a href="mailto:shop@fiberworxonline.com?Subject=Query via Tegiwa Imports Blog Article">shop@fiberworxonline.com</a> and visit their online store at <a href="http://www.fiberworxonline.com" target="_blank">www.fiberworxonline.com</a> to check out what they have to offer. Turnaround is 2-3 weeks so if you are looking to make some additions to your car for a show, track day or other event, plan ahead!</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-465" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/3.jpg" alt="3" width="960" height="606" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/3.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/3-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/3-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/3-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p>Keeping the little pocket rocket’s handling in check are Yellow Speed Racing ‘Dynamic Pro Sport’ Coilovers. TEGIWA have recently been appointed sole European distributor for YSR as YELLOW SPEED RACING EUROPE. This entry level set of Coilovers are 33-way adjustable and have performed very well so far in this season of Tegiwa Civic Cup. We&#8217;ve had multiple podium finishes with our CRX and also with the Yellow Speed Racing Europe sponsored EP3 Civic Cup car driven by Andy Guagler which runs the &#8216;Club Performance&#8217; Coilovers. Both cars were on the podium last weekend at Silverstone. Congratulations to both Luke Sedzikowski &amp; Andy Gaugler.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-466" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/4.jpg" alt="4" width="960" height="606" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/4.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/4-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/4-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/4-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>

<p>Finally.. we have managed to put together the remaining pieces of the puzzle to complete Project Tegiwa CRX, which has now been revealed at &#8216;JAPFEST&#8217;, a Japanese Performance car show held at Castle Combe race circuit in Wiltshire, England.</p>
<p>So, straight to the updates.. Working our way up from the bottom end of the b16A2, we start with the sump which now sports a Tegiwa B-Series Baffle Kit to prevent the oil slushing to one side leaving the other side dry whilst cornering hard. The block has been rebored and honed to OEM specification restoring it back to its full race bred glory. Once the block was back in our possession, Tegiwa in-house guru of all things mechanical &#8216;Saint Matt&#8217; set about building the engine with an extensive list of reputable parts. New Piston Rings, ACL bearings, Skunk2 Stem Seals and Ferrea Valve Guides have all been fitted alongside a full Genuine Honda Gasket Kit including a head pressure test. As this is more of a no expense spared project and sponsored by Skunk2, we had to throw in some Skunk2 Dress-Up goodies too! The Cam Cover has had a respray in OEM wrinkle black, finished off with a Skunk2 Black Billet Plug Cover, Skunk2 Black Series Oil Cap, Skunk2 Cam Seal and a Skunk2 Solenoid Cover. These better than OEM quality additions make for an A+ build and are requirements for that all important &#8216;Skunk2 Certified&#8217; plate which sits in the engine bay.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/18.jpg" alt="18" width="960" height="606" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-426" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/18.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/18-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/18-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/18-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/17.jpg" alt="17" width="960" height="606" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-427" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/17.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/17-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/17-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/17-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/13.jpg" alt="13" width="960" height="606" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-431" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/13.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/13-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/13-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/13-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p>Prior to the engine being slotted back into the car onto the new Innovative Steel Mounts, Andy our in-house &#8216;whittler&#8217; gave the engine bay a full respray in black to suit the colour scheme of the build along with fitment of Skunk2 Black Fender Washers. After an intense late night in the workshop the engine was placed back into the CRX which meant we could focus on fitting the remaining parts to get this track slaying pocket rocket back on the black top. Cooling is now taken care of by a Tegiwa full length radiator hooked up to the heart of the CRX by Skunk2 Coolant Hoses. Our tegiwa 4-2-1 Stainless manifold is now fitted to our decat, joining up to the Skunk MegaPower cat-back. Lubricating the engine is no other than Tegiwa Civic Cup sponsors Millers Oils Nanodrive.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/16.jpg" alt="16" width="960" height="606" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-428" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/16.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/16-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/16-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/16-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p>Moving onwards to the drivetrain, an RPC (Racing Performance Clutch) Stage 2 Clutch Kit and RPC 3.6kg Lightweight Chromoly Flywheel have been fitted. Newly listed on <a href="https://www.tegiwaimports.com" target="_blank">www.tegiwaimports.com</a> are Insane Shafts, which were a no brainer when it came to choosing driveshafts for this build. Rated to 500bhp, they were more than sufficient for the power output of this Tegiwa Civic Cup car. With all the engine and chassis upgrades, it would be rude not to fit a shiny new set of coilovers. Tegiwa have recently been appointed Sole European Distributors for &#8216;Yellow Speed Racing&#8217;, so again, the decision here was simple, a set of adjustable Yellow Speed Coilovers have been fitted which not only perform extremely well, but look great too in the Black and Gold finish. Stopping power has been taken care of by RPB (Racing Performance Brakes) vented and grooved discs with EBC YellowStuff pads to withstand and perform well throughout the harsh conditions that come with racing. Juicing the brakes is Millers Oils Racing Brake Fluid, fed through a set of Tegiwa custom HEL stainless braided brake lines.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/21.jpg" alt="21" width="960" height="606" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-435" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/21.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/21-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/21-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/21-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/151.jpg" alt="15" width="960" height="606" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-438" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/151.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/151-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/151-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/151-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p>As mentioned at the beginning of this article, Project CRX will have made its racing debut by the time this goes to print, which means the next issue will feature a full report of the cars first track outing. As you can see in the photos we were fortunate enough to be able to take some snaps of the CRX at Japfest alongside the current Honda Yuasa BTCC Team Honda Tourer as driven by &#8216;Gordon Shedden&#8217;. All of the parts we have used to build the CRX are available via <a href="https://www.tegiwaimports.com" target="_blank">www.tegiwaimports.com</a> and remember, if it isn&#8217;t listed we can source the part! Keep them peeled for the next article, <a href="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/category/events/2014/">Click Here</a> for event information and be sure to come and check out Tegiwa Civic Cup for close, vtec filled, adrenalin fuelled racing.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/6.jpg" alt="6" width="960" height="606" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-421" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/6.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/6-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/6-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/6-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p>This month we have made additions to the interior and built up a collection of ‘Go Faster’ parts for the gearbox. Interior wise, the Black Takata 6 Hans FIA harness is now in place securing Luke in the Carbon Sparco seat, which is also now mounted correctly. Moving onto the Electronics side of things, a Super B 15P Lithium Race Battery weighing in at just 2.5kg has been hooked up to juice the CRX into life. A must have addition to any racecar where every kilo matters. Taking care of lap timing is an Aim Solo DL GPS Car Lap timer. This clever bit of kit is a completely automatic lap timer based on GPS technology. Upon arrival at any circuit, Solo recognizes the circuit and its finish line coordinates. Not only this but the device also records speed, accelerations and braking. All the data required for review between races.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/9.jpg" alt="9" width="960" height="606" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-418" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/9.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/9-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/9-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/9-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p>Gearbox upgrades include an MFactory Plated differential and MFactory Final Drive, housed by an S4C gearbox taken from a Civic EK VTI. This pocket sized rocket will be sure to dominate the track and be a serious threat to the EK, EG and EP3 Civics on the grid. Millers CRX competition fully synthetic transmission oil takes care of lubrication. A blend of fully synthetic base oils incorporating new “Nano Technology” additive chemistry to significantly reduce internal friction and power losses. This is just one of many great products to be offered by Millers Oils.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/7.jpg" alt="7" width="960" height="606" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-420" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/7.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/7-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/7-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/7-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>

<p>This month, Project CRX has gone through some radical changes. There were a few objectives this time round, all of which have been accomplished thanks to the &#8216;can do’ and ‘will do now’ attitude of Tegiwa boss man Luke. First on the long list of things to do was update all aspects of the chassis where possible, with adjustable items required for race prep. There are a number of upgrades that have been thrown at the underside of the CRX and to kick the transformation off were a host of Skunk2 parts including Front Camber Arms, Rear Camber Arms and Rear Lower Control Arms. Not only does this combination of road holding goodness let us make adjustments to the geometry setup for various circuits, but they bring the car up to date and look awesome too! Finishing off the chassis upgrades are a set of Tanabe front and rear Anti Roll Bars. So far we have been able to source parts that lend themselves to the aesthetic route in which we intended with a colour scheme matching both Skunk2 and Tegiwa; White, Red and Black. Amongst these parts you will find a newly fitted Skunk2 MegaPower exhaust system, allowing those gases to rip straight to the back of the car unleashing pure listening pleasure.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/5.jpg" alt="5" width="960" height="606" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-401" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/5.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/5-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/5-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/5-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p>Although we would have loved to run a set of Mugen, Enkei or Rays wheels on this car, the aim here is to remember this is a race car, not a show car. Damage is almost certain to occur with the Civic Cup hot hatches battling it out for the podium. The perfect choice for this build was a set of Rota Slipstreams, providing a great appearance thanks to the black finish and classic design which are sure to stand up to whatever is thrown at them. Contrary to their name (Slip), this race honed circuit slayer will be sticking to the black top like its hooked on rails, but fitting 15&#215;7 wheels to the CRX isn’t just a bolt on process. Oh no… with a low offset and chunky tyres, arch rolling and paint touch up was required by our in house whittler Andy.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/4.jpg" alt="4" width="960" height="606" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-402" /

Moving on towards the interior of the car, the glass side windows have been replaced with Polycarbonate items, providing both weight loss and safety. Jumping into the car, you will find products we car enthusiasts go to sleep at night dreaming of. The throne of the mighty little CRX is no less than constructed entirely of large weave carbon fiber thanks to Sparco. Due to the dimensions of the car we had to make more adjustments to the floor so that the winged beauty could fit. This really does look great housed within the red cage and white surroundings. Holding Luke firmly in the seat is a Black Takata Race 6 Hans compatible harness. Remember, Tegiwa stock Takata harnesses and Tow Straps and are available for next day delivery so be sure to head over to www.tegiwaimports.com and view the range.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/2.jpg" alt="2" width="960" height="606" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-404" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/4.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/4-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/4-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/4-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p>Moving on through the interior, you can now find one of our new Race spec Shifters, bringing the Skunk2 Billet weighted Shift knob higher and closer to the newly fitted 290mm OMP Alcantara clad steering wheel. Keeping flames at bay should the worst happen is a Lifeline Fire Extinguisher kit which brings us to a really neat feature both inside and outside the car. The interior kill switch and Fire extinguisher switches are seated on a pre-built triangular shaped platform, which bolts straight to the car wherever you wish to position it. Externally we have tried something new, mounting the switches using Tegiwa custom fabricated brackets, which bring them away from the usual position on the scuttle panel, up inline with the A-Pillar.<br />
[su_lightbox type=&#8221;image&#8221; src=&#8221;https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/1.jpg&#8221;][/su_lightbox]
<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/1.jpg" alt="1" width="960" height="606" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-405" srcset="https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/1.jpg 960w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/1-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/1-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.tegiwa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/1-640x404.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p>The final and most obvious updates to the build as you can clearly see from the photos, are the livery featuring he all new Civic Cup logo on the windscreen banner alongside the über bright driver number ’33’. To finish off the external aesthetics we are fitting a Tegiwa Prototype Rear wing designed to add to the CRX aerodynamics and promote down force simultaneously with the custom front splitter and canards.</p>
<p>Remember, all of the items listed in this article are available via <a href="https://www.tegiwaimports.com" target="_blank">www.tegiwaimports.com</a>, if there is an item you require for your build that isn’t on our website please call 01782 334440.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">As many of you may or may not be aware, when Tegiwa was formed, we originally imported, sold and broke many sought after Honda&#8217;s. We were and still are responsible for the majority of EK9 and CRX&#8217;s in the UK. The image you see above is of Luke &amp; Johnny&#8217;s (Both directors of &amp; founders of Tegiwa) CRX&#8217;s. This iconic model is what you might call the &#8216;Grass Roots&#8217; of Tegiwa.<br />
Currently there are no CRX&#8217;s in the Tegiwa Civic Cup. We thought this would be a great opportunity to source one for ourselves and throw a whole host of Tegiwa &amp; Skunk2 goodies at it to see how it will fair against the likes of the EK and EP3&#8217;s that the competitors are running.</p>
<p>Over the coming weeks we will be adding to this blog with every update to the project wether it be missing parts sourced, shiny bits installed or decisions on colour schemes including the odd short video of progress. One thing is for sure, with no expense spared, this will be one project you will want to follow! Enjoy the images of the car below. This is as it stands after collecting the car 24 hours ago.. We will notify you of updates!</p>
